So far so good. As you know Phil had a stent put into his stomach last week. Once the nurse began pumping his stomach he felt immediate relief and was back to feeling like himself within a few hours. Since he came home all seems to be going well and he is able to eat a very restricted diet. Phil is not allowed to eat anything that has small seeds such as Raspberries, Strawberries not even in a smoothie unless I strain through a cheese cloth to make sure all the seeds are gone. No nuts no beans not even lentils or anything hard nothing that could be stringy such as celery, peppers, tomatoes, string beans unless I peal them first. As you can see this is going to be a challenge especially for me I need to relearn how to cook and how to make over all the meals he loves. I told him he needs to hurry and get better because he is making my life way too hard – ha-ha! I am very thankful for ensure and juice plus (Steve Carter) that is one way he gets the nutrients he needs in a hurry and likes it. One thing that makes it hard is that he doesn’t have an appetite and when he does very little sound good to him so deciding what to eat is a day long process at best then gets full after 3 bites. Obviously I’ll take the indecisiveness over not being able to eat at all.
Yesterday Phil had his chemo treatment and all went well. Praise the Lord his levels were all good this week because list his platelets were way down and he would not have been able to have a treatment but this week they were over double from last week a definite Praise. Phil will have 2 more of these treatments in April then a CT scan to see where we are at. We pray the treatment is shrinking the Tumor if the treatment is not working Phil would immediately be put on one of the new clinical trials. We are planning a trip to Florida the end of April and pray Phil will be up to the traveling. (If anyone has any connection with American Airlines we would love to talk to you or them.)
I know this blog is a bit long – I apologize for not writing last week to give you a quick update.
Our prayer requests would be that Phil’s appetite will come back prayer for his strength and that the chemo treatment he is receiving will work and shrink the tumor. I do ask and believe for complete healing of Phil’s body but, God’s ways are not our ways and if there is something Phil, I and the boys need to learn through this time that we will learn it fast and well. Thank you all for your prayers and support it helps more then you’ll ever know.
